Frequently Asked Questions

We know what you really wanna know about Enso Shotokan Karate Club. That’s why we’ve compiled a list of questions we usually get asked regarding our club and training at Enso. If you still haven’t found the answers you’re looking for, feel free to contact us and we’ll be happy to answer your questions.

What do I need for my first session?

For the first sessions, we recommend training in tracksuit bottoms and a T-shirt. If you have done another martial art before you can wear your old clothing and belts if you still have them. When you have decided that you would like to join, we can give you advice on where to get a Gi (suit) to suit a variety of budgets.

Are the instructors registered and qualified?

Yes, all our instructors are certified Black Belts who have been CRB/DBS checked and are registered with the National Association Of Karate & Martial Arts Schools (NAKMAS)

Do I need to be fit to start karate?

You train to get fit. You don't need to get fit to train. We will start slowly: we start the class with a good warm up and stretching exercises so you will be ready for the training that follows. Karate will provide you with the skills necessary such as improved flexibility, balance and muscle strength.

How often are gradings conducted?

Gradings take place 4 times a year.
